The Literary Sets 2001-2010, open Friday July 9

I’m stoked to finally show this body of work from four different sessions spanning almost a decade. The “Literary Set(s)” are portrait series taken at the historic/nostalgic Literary Cafe in the Tremont neighborhood. Each session consisted of a temporary studio setup in the back room of the Literary Cafe, where patrons were invited to step up and have their photos taken at no charge and very little direction. The resulting series reveal sometimes very candid and casual portraits working as parts of a larger body of work. Each session featured different set ups and formats, including medium format on a black seamless, 4×5 positive/negative polaroid on a white seamless, curtains and stage lighting, and a red seamless on the occasion of an Oscar™ party.

The exhibit will be up for the months of June and July, with receptions on Art-Walk nights of June 11 and July 9 at Mastroianni Photography and Arts.

In anticipation of their wedding later this year, Paige and Elliot booked an engagement session along with their wedding package to have a chance to get in front of the camera and get some images for their announcement. We shot both in the Cleveland studio, and at nearby Tremont locations.

The fourth installment of the legendary Literary Portrait Sets took place at the Oscar™ gala this year, and featured many Lit regulars (and a few irregulars for good measure).

Taking place at the historic/nostalgic Literary Cafe in the Tremont neighborhood, the series started in 2001 and has been repeated several times over the decade, each session featuring a different studio set-up and style. The sessions are free and attempt to include all of the patrons on any of the given nights.

The headshot doesn’t have to suck

So it’s not a wedding, heck, it’s not even a full blown portrait session with three changes and four locations, but it’s still your portrait, and you don’t want to look like just this side of the picture from your driver’s license, right? Simple headshot sessions for your website, business card, resumé, audition, or what-have-you are available at Mastroianni Photography. We shoot in-studio in the Tremont neighborhood near downtown Cleveland, easily accessible from all of Northeast Ohio, or come to you for an additional fee. Sessions start at $125 and include your choice of one image file for your use, as well as online proofing for additional orders. Special group rates for businesses are available; book everyone in your office and make an outing of it–maybe have lunch in one of Tremont’s many awesome restaurants following the portrait session…

Hey, it’s that time of year–you know, something about hearts, chocolate, flowers, and rings? Which means it’s time for the annual Valentine’s Day Engagement Session Sale! If you book any level of wedding coverage between now and February 28th, I’ll include a complementary engagement session in the deal*. Engagement sessions are a great opportunity for couples to get in front of the camera and get to know your photographer before the wedding, and the images can be used for save-the-date cards and guest books or photos for signing.

*Based on availability of your date; booking requires a signed contract and retainer. Engagement sessions are shot either in studio or within the greater Clevleland area, and must be completed no less than six weeks before the wedding date. Images are posted online for purchase; prints, guest-books, and other products are extra. Engagement sessions can be booked without a wedding package, call or email for more details.
